Located in northwest Fujian Province, Taining is an ancient city with the characteristics of primitive simplicity, peacefulness and charm. It is will-known as “Ancient Town of Han and Tang Dynasties, and Famous City in both North and South Song Dynasties”, and had the grand period in its history such as “2 people living opposite of a river won the Zhuangyuan title，4 people in a family won the Jinshi title and 9 people living in the same lane won the Juren title”. Many outstanding ancient scholars such as Yang Shi, Li Gang and Zhu Xi lectured here and left many culture traces. Wandering in the city, you can visit the magnificent House of Li Chunye, who was Minister of War in the Ming Dynasty, and admire the beauty of what’s called Number One Residential House in the south of the Yangtze River. Alternatively, you can visit the Zhuangyuan Culture Park by the river to experience city’s 2,200-year-long history. Also, you can go to Red Army Street to recall the fighting years during which the Red Army went to Taining thrice. For a relax, you might sit in the old theater to enjoy local art performances like Meilin Opera, Nuo Dancing, etc.
